Mr. Williams received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette, Louisiana in 1977, Master's Degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana and post graduate work at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. He taught for 23 years in Louisiana and developed bands with superior ratings in marching, concert, and jazz. Mr. Williams has also served as an adjudicator and clinician in South Carolina, Mississippi,Tennessee and Kansas. In 1999, he became the concert and jazz instructor at Cass Technical High School in Detroit, Michigan. He served as assistant band director at W. B. Ray High School in the year 2000 and is currently serving as head band director. Mr. Nixon Williams' thoughtful leadership inspired Ray Band to achieve great things throughout his leadership with the Ray Band!
Nancy Hesch

2013-2014 was Mrs. Hesch's first year with Ray Band and her fourth year as a certified teacher for All-Level Music, specializing in Instrumental Music. She has been a private flute instructor for over 20 years. As a professional musician, she performs on flute and sings opera for weddings, parties, private and public events. Mrs. Hesch attended Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas as a music education major, specializing in flute and piano, and earned her Bachelor's Degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude, from Texas A & M University - Corpus Christi, Texas. At Ray High School, Mrs. Hesch is working with Ray Band and Colorguard students to achieve success individually, and as a group, to become confident life-long learners. Her accomplished and energetic work with Ray Band woodwind students and with our Colorguard is amazing, including the beautiful Colorguard flags she designs and sews herself.

Mr. Getz was born and raised in Corpus Christi. He attended Club Estates Elementary, Kaffie Middle School, and graduated from Richard King High School in 2004. After attending Del Mar College for two years, he transferred to Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he received a Bachelor of Music Education degree in 2009.
While at LSU, Mr. Getz marched with the Tiger Band and LSU Drumline for three years, performing across the southeast.
Before coming to Ray he spent five years as the Band Director at Martin Middle School in Corpus Christi.
The 2015-16 school year was his first year teaching at Ray and he looks forward to the opportunity ahead!
